Water & Wastewater Services
LUC purchases water from Oldham County Water District. We then store and distribute water to our customers inside and outside the City of La Grange.
Wastewater generated from customers having sanitary sewers is collected, pumped and treated before being discharged into a tributary of North Curry’s Fork.
Charges for water and sewer services are based on volume of water used. There is a minimum water and sewer charge even if no water was used during the month.
Water meters are read monthly unless weather conditions are such that estimated readings are necessary.
Bills are mailed to customers on the last working day of the month with a due date on the 15th of the following month to avoid a late payment penalty.
**WATER SYSTEM FLUSHING**
Unidirectional flushing (UDF) is a systematic method used by utility companies to clean drinking water distribution pipes. By strategically closing and opening specific valves and fire hydrants, water flow is forced in a single direction at high velocities, effectively scouring sediment, biofilm, and mineral buildup from the pipe walls.
LaGrange Utilities Commission will begin implementing unidirectional flushing of the water system on Monday July 6, 2026. We are aware of ongoing issues in certain areas within our system and will begin flushing within the areas most affected. Once completed we will continue flushing in the remainder of the system over the next couple of months. You may experience discolored water during our flushing activities, please run your cold water for a few minutes to clear up your service line. If your water doesn’t clear, please contact our office at 502-222-9325 and press 2 to speak with customer service during normal business hours, or If you experience this after normal business hours, please call our office 502-222-9325 and press 2 to speak with on-call personnel and staff will come do additional flushing within the vicinity.
